Any game that i can replace WoW (World of Warcraft) with? MMORPG?

I currently play wow and i have been for just over a year. I am considering quitting becauase of the monthley fees. Is there any other mmorpg that i could buy/download that is cheaper or even free? I heard good things from games like guild wars and grand fantasia, but i wanna hear an opinion from someone who has played a WoW like mmo. I am up for any thoughts other than runescape ffs, i hate that game haha.
