Preventing split ends?

There is no such thing as a split end mender. Once your ends are split you are NOT going to be able to put them together. The best thing to do is trim your hair and let it do its thing. If you can try to not straighten it or curl it or anything that would be better. The sun also has ne effect on what happens to your hair the only thing it does is lighten your hair. I have my hair about an inch below my boobs and it took me 2 years to get it there from shoulder length(with regular trims). Most of those products do help your hair but not as much as you think.
